Has been a while since I posted here, so in no particular order:

- Just caught up with the past two months of FMA scans. Hell yeah! Izumi Curtis has been kicking much rear, Sloth had an awesome *spoiler* and Greed is back to kick some rear too. :D Looking forward to next month's, that yes.

- I have a new phone:

I went out of my way to find one that did not have a slider for the keypad (my last one had and I have a tendency to drop things a time too many) but that did offer a descent camera phone with which to take pictures (my digital camera being very dead). I also favoured Nokia since of my three previously owned phones, 2 were Nokia (old models) and are in fact still working. I am well pleased with this new model though. In addition to the camera phone it does mp3 player and Radio too. *Is happy!*
Now I just need to get it a cover for the times I do drop it. XD;;

- The main reason I haven't been posting much is that I have been very content of late. I'm enjoying my job, relaxing in the evenings, and enjoying my days off. I've also not been spending much time on line in general. Sunshine! :D

- Big surprise. I didn't expect or plan to get a holiday this summer, but I'm off to Spain for two weeks. Don't expect me on line from Friday 17th of July till the 1st of August peeps. If ever something turns up that you want my input on when I get back, just leave me a comment with the link. I luvs you guys, but I doubt I'll be able to go through two weeks worth of posts. ♥

- I need to Art more. :P

Gin hates you - die!

Happy Birthday Kaito Kuroba! )

The fact that this picture, despite having been doodled before the date in question, has only just now been scanned? Might have a lot to do with this picture here. *whistles*

That, or the fact am currently working full time. 8D

Ahaha. Dag est amusée.
L'ancienne adresse affiche maintenant une page d'erreur, donc à vos marques pages, bons sirs, mesdames, mam'zelles.

Rah.

Et marre des grosses araignées aussi. T________T

EDIT: LE FORUM REMARCHE DE NOUVEAU! (Par contre il manque des posts.)

Had job interview Thursday morning. Should hear back by next Thursday. Was a Part Time job in the Art School I went to, so who knows...

*neeeed job*

Wednesday was fun. Gaming had it's last official meeting for the academic year, and since we still needed to elect the new committee for next year, turns out we had a good amount of people turn up. Fun was had by all, and the committee was duly elected without too much hassle. (Unlike the toast society, no one elected needed convincing to stand~. Curry got elected Vice-president.) Ninj4 (aka Marty, the continuing president of the society) and the rest of this past year's committee even arranged a little something special to end the year on a positive note: Gaming Awards.

Basically awards given out to members of the society who distinguished themselves some way or another. Ducky got the Dancing award, for his epic energy during a Rayman Raving Rabbits session. AliceAlan got one for "best" drunk, in memory of that one time he had a bit too much. (People have tried to stop him ever since.) The most ordinary award was given to the guy who wasn't there because he was probably playing an online game at home(irony). And I got one too. "Spirit of Gaming." For being generally always there and helpful. ... *squee* Well chuffed.

I think there was something else I was wanting to mention here, but... Nope, can't remember squat what it was. Oh well.

Hai guyz. Why is it end April already?

Oh wait, I remember now. 1 year! Yay!! *blows trumpet*

Game On!

I absolutely adore the art and animation in this video of LadyHawke's "My Delirium". I've been adoring seeing it in the student union, and have only now got around to seeking it out online.

Both the video and the singer's homepage feature beautiful watercolours by Sarah Larnach (who's myspace page has been apparently hotlinked to hell).

For some more of the pretties...

... I think I ♥ the art so much. I've always been partial to watercolours. *Squee.*
Doesn't hurt that the music is decent too (and haha... Kiwi? Yay!)
-

Also if you are a fan of the Animated TV Series "Avatar: The legend of Aang" (aka the last airbender) I highly recommend Rufftoon's "Water Tribe Zhao" comic. It's 447 of pure pleasure in the form of a well drawn and well written comic, featuring as main character the Antagonist from the series, taking off from when he was "killed off" and proudly going into Alternate Universe territory and bringing in a living and kicking cast to help develop the story.

First page is here.

Midna says hi!

Hmm... Spirit Tracks.

My darling sister has been demanding I update my blog more. I told her I wanted to make a locked post in the near future and she needs to get an LJ so I can add her to the "can-read" list. Sister? That still applies.

On the other hand, there is something I do feel like talking about in a public entry.

A< new Legend of Zelda game has been announced.
(And it already has fanart! O_o Lolwut Fandom?)

I've just watched the trailer, I've seen some of the pictures and read one or two reports, and am still not too sure what to think of this Spirit Tracks.

As I had thought when I first heard about it, it is a pretty direct sequel to Phantom Hourglass for the Nintendo DS. And yes, it has Trains. Considering that PH had steam boats, it is pretty much in keeping with the universe/timeline. I think our perception of trains (at least in the west) is pretty much that they are what divided us from the Middle Ages, into the technologically advanced times. And apparently Trains won't be the only technological gimmick in the game. The trailer shows Link using a robot, a sort of electric fan-boomerang thing and I have no doubt more such tools will abound. It feels like quite a leap from the backwater middle age epic fairy tales setting the Zelda series has us used to. Yet the game is most definately still a Zelda game, with Link wearing his trademark green when he's not prancing about in his new shiny train-driver uniform, puzzles, switches, epic bosses with painfully obvious weak points that you probably only need to hit three times, and of course, the princess the series is named after.

Yet I'm not feeling overly enthusiastic about it.
When I heard about it, I was surprised. I had not expected to hear about a new Zelda game for some time yet. And it's a fairly obvious sequel to Phantom Hourglass, which, though I enjoyed, I felt was acutely shallow and short (and inhabited by selfish pigs). Somehow I'm not expecting Spirit Tracks to improve on that. I'm expecting more of the same, riding on the past successes of PH and WindWaker to fill in a gap in Nintendo's release schedule. Though maybe I'm just being cynical about it. I don't think it'll be a bad game, I just don't think it'll be much to remember.

Apart from the WTF!TRAINS? part, naturally.

*New Film: Went to see The Watchmen last saturday. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I found it to be a thoroughly faithful adaptation of the graphic novel it was based on, of which I am fond, so I'd probably need to watch it again if I want to have any critical distance with it. By the time I went to see it, I'd already got used to the idea that the costumes had changed and the plot would be stripped of pirates. Only thing left to irk me was the... Unnecessary showing off of the special effects with exagerated gore, which I found took greatly away from the credibility of the show.

*Short vacation: Went to see my aunt, uncle and cousin down in Edinburgh. Cousin has been suffering from health problems the past few years, so was good to see her looking better. Spent some time going up a hill, reading papers and visiting museums, which was fun and relaxing. The tram-works in Edinburgh are a big joke though. Traffic has suffered from it, and so have the shops, apparently. Oh well.

*New Flat: Have moved in with Curry. Is nice, but is going to need some adjusting to I think. On plus side, I no longer rely on the mouse for internet access, and am using my other laptop (the one that is physically poor but strong re:performance!) so maybe I'll get to keep up to date with peeps more. :D

Also...
*New meme: DETECTIVE CONAN ART MEME. =D

(Address Not Found: Firefox can't find the server at www.conan-fansub.net.)

N'empêche que pour une fois que j'avais un accés au net sur mon PC, je voulais en profiter. .-.;;

Cela rassure.

EDIT BIS: ça y est, il remarche.

The bad thing about having irregular Internet access is I'm beginning to forget what icons I have to use on LJ. >__>;;;

Right, so now I've got money and thus my internet connection is back but...

One Step forwards, Two Steps back.
I'm now looking for a flat.

...as well as a job.

Takes me back to July 08. *headesks* Only difference is there is now up-to-a-week old snow outside, and I don't have the option of more than a month to look around for habitation. Oh well.

On a brighter note, have started taking Life Drawing classes on Tuesday Evenings.

It had been more than a year(maybe 2) since I'd been to a directed life drawing class, and probably just as long since I'd enjoyed drawing something from observation without having to worry about what it was for, or what it meant, and I've been missing the constructive criticism these classes give. It's not like I've lost all from my years at Art School yet, but I was definitely beginning to feel rusty and let myself go, so going there this Tuesday, doing a drawing in that controlled environment and then stepping back to see it properly, I feel I can take control again of what I want to do with my skill. Still don't know what exactly I want to do with it, but there's a thread there.
I got to see again myself doing mistakes I'd done in the past (not contrasted enough, darks too light, lights too dark, so on, so forth) and I could still see my style there (I could could recognize it as my drawing.) It's interesting, and is getting me thinking about working big again. As a result I'm looking forward to continuing the course.

And finally snow.

I wish my camera wasn't broken, but eh, Googled Macro shall do!

RAAATSSSS!

My internet is dead till 11th Feb.

x Have posted my participation to [info]zelda_exchange. It can be found here.

x Got to watch "Ashes to Ashes." D.I. Alex Drake? BIGGEST Canon Sue I've ever seen. She's basically a "Life on Mars" Mary Sue. ("Life on Mars" is the series that "Ashes to Ashes" is the sequel to.) That the show be well written? So very makes up for it. And it's brilliant. And I still can't see Alex as anything other than a Mary Sue. She gets to call her mom a *insert nasty word here*, then hear her mom tell her how much she loves her just before the mom gets -spoiler-. She's drunk, shameless, always right, most definitely hitting on popular male character from Life on Mars, with positive feed-back, and gets to be called a "Guardian Angel" after performing a "miracle". And it's still a brilliant show. *bemused*

x Watched some James Bond movies too. Pierce Brosnan's bond has quite the humour. Cheesy puns for the win. And his first Q was AWESOME. (And M is still very much Love.♥) The vilains were quite colourful too... I wonder if the James Bond series ever gave birth to Graphic Novels?

x Christmas was great, and got me to realize that it's not the big things you miss, but the small ones.
Also a months provision of chocolate only seems to last half a month. Bugger. XP

x For Claude: "It is easy to see how, from afar, Herge, let alone Cuthbert Calculus, can be seen as indulging in traditional French-style philosophical beard-stroking."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7820247.stm
That part of the article amused me. :)

x Latest DC files? Meh. But Yay! Yet Meh. Hopefully next arc will be better.

x Black Ice? Hate. I've got a scab on my knee now, and it's a sore knee. :( /end big baby sequence.

x Job Hunting is getting urgent-ish now. Have had a bit of a restart in searching impetus. One admin job that's looking hopeful...

x Hopefully I get to be online more now. :D And finally finish typing up that chapter of my french fic!! Yeay?

x Right, what did I miss this time?

Dear Laptop,
More specifically, dear mysterious graphics driver/pilot "ati2dvag",

Please could you stop failing every single time I turn laptop on?
I'm fed up of opening my email inbox only to end up staring at a Blue Screen of Death, or worse, the windows "no graphics, no fail" mode.

Once in a while, when the laptop has been on for ages and isn't in a position where it should have no trouble cooling? Okay... That's how you started.
But Now
things is just getting ridiculous.

Yours sincerely, and earnestly starting to look into -fixing- you,

The User.

Bigger version on Deviantart.

A tad early, I know, but since I don't plan on using the internets on the day~...
May you all enjoy a spiffing Christmas holiday!

PS: Gave in and watched DC movie 12 the other day. It's pretty much regular DC fare, though I have gotta say, it has one of the more interesting Movie-only characters I have seen since movie 6 of the series. I think it also pokes fun at the inconsistencies in Conan's "tone-deafness". Schwell!
Also big big cheese moment, when Ran realizes what exactly it is "Amazing Grace" means to her. |D; *Swings around an anti-fat-romance-cliché trout!*

PPS: FS? I've found a japanese fansite called "Fragrant Olive" that has some splendid Seiya-Usagi arts. Was wondering if you were aware of it, or interested?
